1-10-24: The Plot Thickens

So these administrators and satraps went as a group to the king and said: “May King Darius live forever! The royal administrators, prefects, satraps, advisers and governors have all agreed that the king should issue an edict and enforce the decree that anyone who prays to any god or human being during the next thirty days, except to you, Your Majesty, shall be thrown into the lions’ den.” Daniel 6:6-7

God shows us in this verse one way Satan lays his snare. The great deceiver always tries to hide his evil and wickedness. He does this behind a veneer of flattery, loyalty or doing good for others. He does the same today. He always makes evil appear good and proper on the front end. On the backside he intends to beat us with shame and remorse for doing what we know is wrong. So a trap is set for King Darius.
So these administrators and satraps went as a group to the
King
Satan often sells his evil under the guise of majority rule. He
tries to deceive people to think that everyone (except a few religious
fanatics) approve of this action. (It’s fair!) The top 122 out of 123 key
managers (Daniel is missing) in the kingdom appear before the king.
May King Darius live forever Evil never wants its loyalty to its
authority questioned. So the cabal uses flattery on the king they plan to rip off. Proverbs 29:5-6.
The royal administrators, prefects, satraps, advisers and governors have all agreed The request starts with a lie. They present their request under the guise of unity. Everyone agrees
this is a great idea (and why would you, oh king, want to go against all your key leaders in the kingdom?).Of course this is not true because Daniel has not been consulted even though it is implied that he also has reviewed and approved this proposal.
That the king should issue an edict and enforce the decree This simple phrase shows us the cabal’s true motive. Their desire is that the king be placed into a position where he must punish (enforce) his most faithful, loyal and effective servant. If he make the decree, he must enforce it. That anyone who prays So far this sounds benign – prayer is nothing, right? Why prayer? The cabal knows this is one area Daniel will not compromise. The cabal cares nothing about prayer, they only care about entrapping Daniel. The word pray means to petition, to ask of a deity.
Prays to any god or human being during the next thirty days, except to you, Your Majesty The request appeals to the kind’s pride. He is the only one worthy to be honored in such a way. They pretend the law is not selfish – they are only there to honor their king. They throw in the term man to hide their motive – they want Daniel removed from office and killed for praying to his God.
Shall be thrown into the lions’ den The trap is set, the punishment is determined. It is so serious that the king be honored that if one refuses he must face death. (This is today’s version of being patriotic – loyalty to the king over God).
What can we learn? Satan loves to hide his snares in laws and legislation. His true intentions are seldom stated directly. The danger comes in the consequences – how the law or edict is applied. If implications are brought up, theywill be denied “(that could never happen”). Those who object are portrayed as being disloyal to the
the king (or they are accused of fear mongering). Unfortunately the king is blinded by the false advertising surrounding the edict and never looks at the true intent or the ramifications.
